Kathleen Svala MD
Dr Svala is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in both adult and addiction psychiatry. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Rochester, where she graduated with magna cum laude honors and as a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society, and received her medical degree from the University of Toledo College of Medicine. She served her general psychiatry residency at University Hospitals of Cleveland, where she was chief resident. She completed fellowship training in addiction psychiatry as well as public and community psychiatry at University Hospitals of Cleveland. She served as a senior instructor in the Department of Psychiatry at University Hospitals of Cleveland. She received further advanced training in Interpersonal Psychotherapy and has presented on anxiety and substance use disorders throughout the country. Dr. Svala is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, the American Society of Addiction Medicine and the Ohio Psychiatric Physicians Association. In addition to general adult psychiatry and medication management, she specializes in addiction psychiatry.
